Naomi

Our little wild sheep Naomi (on the left), sure looks like one of the foundation ewes for all of the Icelandic sheep in North America! Golsa from Yeoman Farms is on the right, and they are almost identical in appearance.
Naomi She’s a badger-face ewe, which she gets from her Daddy, Sue. She was just a lamb when we got our entire starter herd in the fall of 2004. She had a twin, Lu, who was injured by that fall’s shearing, and later died. Because Lu got so much attention from us that fall, I think we neglected to handle Naomi at all, so she is really flighty, unfortunately.
I haven’t given up on her, of course. She has never been bred before, and is being paired with Miguel this year. I’m going to have so many first time mamas this year! It will be a challenge. Her mother, Fiona, is a wonderful mother, so I have high hopes for Naomi.
She has a beautiful fleece on her, and it spins up wonderfully.
